GGF ALUMNI, AUTUMN ADEIGBO, FOUNDER AND CEO OF ETHICAL FASHION LABEL

Growing up, Autumn Adeigbo imagined she would make a good lawyer, gifted with the ability to objectively view both sides of a situation. Or perhaps her love for animals could serve her well as a veterinarian. It wasn’t until age 19 when Autumn recognized and began to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

While working with a top stylist and A-list celebrity in Paris, an opportunity most aspiring fashion designers could only dream about, Autumn yearned for more. This would later be described as her defining career moment; the desire to dig deeper into the industry, attempt to change the status quo and fully utilize her creativity in order to reach her full potential.

Autumn’s namesake fashion label is seasoned with the culture, color and conscience of her African heritage, a lifestyle-driven brand that empowers women through style and purpose. The collection is designed and sewn in New York City in female-owned production facilities, hand-beaded by women of West African tribes employed utilizing a portion of sales, and sold via a community of entrepreneurial women through their social networks.

Below, Autumn shares her thoughts on work, love and life:

Q: How do you hope to see Autumn Adeigbo Fashion grow five years down the road?

A: With its founder not in an insane asylum. No really- I hope we have a small team and presence in numerous cities around the US, and perhaps a couple key markets over seas. I want the women who connect to the brand to love being a part of what we do.

Q: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

A: I would hope that everyone gets to experience a really deep, honest and true romantic love. There is something about knowing someone loves you past your appearance, past your financial or social status and is there for you like family, even though you are not related. That soul level connection. A love, commitment, and honesty that surpasses time.

Q: Where can you be found when you’re not working?

A: Well, the truth is I’m always working, but if I take time off- which is rare, I love to listen to live music, work out, go to yoga, travel to warm locations where I can lay on the beach (I rarely go in the water) and have really great culinary experiences. I also like to spend time alone just as much and sometimes even more than I like to be around other people.

Q: If GGF could grand you 3 wishes, what would they be?

A: Work life balance, the perfect life partner, the prosperity & abundance to do what I want with my time.
