THE ISSUES: OUR FIVE FOCUS AREAS FOR SOCIAL IMPACT

Posted by globalgoodfund on Aug 18, 2020

The Global Good Fund invests in social entrepreneurs who are working to bring change in five focus areas:

  • + HEALTH:Ensure that everyone, especially vulnerable populations, has access to affordable, equitable and comprehensive health care and lives in healthy communities.

  • + EDUCATION:Strive for inclusive, equitable and quality education opportunities for all.

  • + ENVIRONMENT:Innovations that support the sustainable use of our planet’s natural resources, improve local food systems, harness renewable energy, reduce plastic waste and mitigate the risks of climate change.

  • + FINANCIAL INCLUSION:Meet the needs of the 1.7 billion people around the world who are excluded from accessing financial services and products.

  • + ECONOMIC MOBILITY:Accelerate the employment opportunities for the poor, unemployed and underemployed to improve their economic status.

The Global Good Fund made the strategic decision to focus on these topics because they are intrinsically connected and embody fundamental human rights tenets: that everyone regardless of their race, gender, religion, language, nationality or any other status, has the right to live in a world where they have access to healthcare, education, clean air, water and healthy food, financial services and high-wage employment.

Understanding that the world’s largest and most complex social challenges do not exist in a vacuum, The Global Good Fund takes a holistic approach in addressing them and approaches social change through an inclusive and intersectional lens. While we emphasize the building of resilient and competent leaders, we also recognize that social entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities need additional resources to be successful, such as access to financial and social capital.

The Global Good Fund therefore prioritizes leveling the playing field for underrepresented social entrepreneurs, including women, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans and the LGBTQ community. We provide learning opportunities that build resilient leaders and successful social entrepreneurs running financially and environmentally sustainable enterprises that are solving our world’s most pressing social problems.
